The Lovely Grass

grass imageI know that normally people just admire the flowers because they are so abundant in summer but if you spent as much time as me walking in the countryside there is something you will notice and it will impress you forever, it is the lovely grass.

I have a weakness for the gentle stalks swaying in the morning breeze by the side of the road or sometimes as far as the eyes can see. Grasses are beautiful and come in so many shapes and sizes!!
Next time you walk pay attention to the lovely grasses so green and gentle and so pretty!!

I do believe they deserve a post of their own.

Nothing can make you feel as summery as the lovely green grass basking in the first rays of the morning sun by the side of the road.
The fresh sweet smell of summer grasses floating in the air while you walk and the refreshing breeze caressing your skin while you walk...

It is the perfect summer scene!

Heather in the summer grass

If I hear the words "purple" and "green" the first thing I think about is purple heather snuggled in the green summer grasses of wild Connemara bogs.

I can feel the fresh breeze touching my skin, the sun from behind the fleeting clouds is week but almost warm. The smell of bogs and water, grass and wild flowers is overpowering and sweet.

There is nothing like Walking Connemara in the summer.

FIRST FROST

November arrived with the first frost. I guess there is nothing to complain about. Basically, it was about time. So far the weather was alright - not too cold, not too rainy and not too windy either compared to the past few years. We actually just started to put the heating on now so I have to say - it has been rather good!

I am fine with the first frost arriving now.

It also presents some fabulous photo opportunities for me.

I have to admit that I LOVE FROST.

And here is WHY.

The Irish Green

I am very fond of natural light, actually I never use flash, simply because I enjoy light as it is, I prefer to adjust to it, according to the conditions, than to invade everything with a flash. Obviously, it would be a different story if I was working in a studio. Since I am not, I can allow myself this luxury not to use flash and to explore the generous gift of our beautiful sun.
When taking photos outdoors, it's very important to know when to go looking for the perfect light. My favourite time of the day, with the best conditions for taking photos outdoors is early in the morning. Obviously, it all depends on the weather and cloud cover. If the day is clear with no clouds you have to be out as early as possible and as close to the sunrise as you can actually wake up. Some clouds allow for a late start and sometimes, it is possible to take photos all day long if you have the right conditions like lots of diffused light and not too much contrast, which usually happens in the middle of the day and early afternoon.
Also, it depends what you are going to take photos of.
At the moment I mainly take images of plants - flowers, trees, leaves, branches. I seem to be drawn to the amazing lush greenness all around. This is what everyone know about Ireland after all, how green it is.
Now is the moment to stop and admire the beautiful summer gift of Mother Nature - the lush verdant leaves dancing in the breeze and the swaying rushes keeping up their rhythm.
Enjoy the Irish Green

Thank you for the visit!!!
