Shroom time!!

The other day I went to my usual photo walk with a project in mind - to catch the last remnants of summer. I looked everywhere, believe me, but all I found was a butter cup with half eaten petals. 

The green, I discovered, is not very green any more and doesn't remind me of summer either. So, I definitely have to put the thoughts of summer behind me and as much as I don't want to welcome the rain, the cold and the constant cloud cover, they are here to stay. But there is something else that I found instead of my summer reminders - I found mushrooms!  

Shrooms everywhere in every shape and size!  They sprouted overnight and literally took over the world!! It's shroom time everyone get ready, but please don't go picking and eating if you don't know what you are doing!!!!! It's far too dangerous than you think!

I found this gathering on the side of the road right in my neighborhood. They grew overnight for my own personal delight when I passed with the camera in the morning it was a wonderful moment but a dreadful delay for the dogs!! They had to wait patiently until I finished shooting happily.   

  

In case you are wondering, I always shoot in RAW and the images are taken with 50mm lens 1.8 aperture, my camera is Canon 400D. I am in love with this lens and I am exploiting it to its full potential  she is performing miracles for me I dare say!!

Daisy for a friend

I have to admit that this year we were blessed for a first time in 6 years with a real summer, followed by a mild autumn which actually turned into an Indian summer. 

How much better can it get?! Probably not much, so it's better if I leave it at that, I say, and let's keep our fingers crossed, so far we got away with a lot of bad weather (well there was that random tornado on the other side of Galway...) but I shouldn't talk too much it's still in the middle of October so I will really change the subject and I will start talking about daisies!

 Daisy for you

I promised a couple of friends from the states that I will tell them about my secret daisy place. Somewhere in Oughterard, off Cregg road, there is a little lane that leads off into the fields and ends there in the middle of nowhere. Hidden in the bracken and the briers there is a ruin of a barn which no one would notice most of the time except in June and July when the place goes wild and crazy with daisies. They simply grow everywhere - around, on top and throughout the ruins. If you don't see it with your own eyes you won't believe it. So here you go, my images from the Daisy ruin. A sweet memory from last and other summers.

You can actually climb to the top ( NOT RECOMMENDED because the roof has collapsed and there is a big hole in the middle) and guess what!? there are daisies growing there as well!!!

I have been going to this place for many years and believe me it was very difficult 

to select just a few images for this new blog post.

Sometimes I like to take something different and I like to experiment :)

Autumn Celebration

It is the first of October and I have to admit that this year Autumn strolled in without hesitation and it is definitely here to stay. 

Up until a few days ago, the trees were still more dark green than brown, the grass was less rusty than it is suddenly today and certainly, there weren't as many leaves dancing in the wind either.


Since my Sunday walk, when I officially went into Autumn mode, all the signs are boldly present. The dark luscious green of the trees is suddenly enriched with reddish and brown tones. The birches are slowly adorning their golden attire and the rushes in the bogs are becoming all rusty with a touch of crimson where the sun rays touch them.
It is an amazing scene that can drive anyone crazy with all that stunning beauty. Nature is perfect and we need to protect it and keep it clean!

There is nothing more annoying for me than finding everyday litter by the side of the roads. How come, some people can not wait to trow their garbage in the bin like everyone else?Why do they have to toss it out of their car window?! The answer evades me completely but their actions, sadly, I witness on daily basis.

Let us live this conversation for another day because this topic has been on the tip of my lips for a while now and continue the celebration of Autumn' arrival. Enjoy nature's palette of colours, so fascinating and so gorgeous.

Indian Summer

After 10 days of gale winds, lashing rain and dark stormy clouds flying across the sky, we woke up right in the middle of a lovely Indian summer. The winds are gone, everything is so still it feels a bit spooky but it is yet so much better than holding tight for your life. 

The temperature is surprisingly and unnaturally higher than usual. And most of all it's kind of sunny! 

You might find it funny that I am being ecstatic just because it's (notice the "kind of") sunny, but if you were living in Ireland you would know what I mean. We are not as lucky as the rest of the world about the amount of sunny days we have. Here it rains more often than not and most of the time even if it is not cold it is cloudy and we rarely see the blue sky. So every time there is a bit of blue sky overhead everyone is happy, joyful and the first thing people say when they meet is "Lovely day today, isn't it?!" 

I went up in the hills, nature was so peaceful and relaxed it felt as the perfect day out. It made me wish to share it with all of you. It's always good to spread the joy whenever possible. 

So smile, look at your blue sky and feel happy!! 

My hiding place

It is amazing how the weather can be just fine and almost sunny one moment and then suddenly, it's windy, drizzling and without a promise for a blue sky anytime soon. 
I am observing this very transformation right now. I am sitting with the laptop in my favourite place - the green house. I love to be outside and when I am inside I like to feel as if I am outside. I know it sounds crazy, but I simply love any kind of vegetation and I just love to be able to see the green leaves outside my window moving to the rhythm of the wind. 
This my secret place here, where I hide among my foliage plants. I have a thing about green and leaves. I have an avocado tree here which, I planted right after we arrived in Ireland 8 years ago. It is taller than me now. Keeping it company are a couple of foliage begonias (I love the wrinkled multicolored leaves)a bunch of cacti (another weakness of mine)a few geraniums, and of course the other giant palm tree. When I start watering all the plants around the house it takes me about half an hour. But I love every second of it. 
So this is my hiding place where I go looking for peace and quiet, where I think the best and where I find my inspiration and ideas. Submerged in a sea of green inside and outside. 
Simply perfect. 

Dublin's First Instagallery!!

I just received an invitation to Dublin's first pop-up Instagram gallery.

Since I will not be able to attend I decided to blog this invitation to anyone who can.

The Instagellery is an eciting new interactive, social media focused photography project.

The event will take place on Thursday 19th September at 7pm in The Fumbally Exchange, No.5 Dame Lane, Dublin 2. 

The Instagallery is Dublin's first pop-up Instagram gallery and it showcases photos taken and shared by Irish bloggers and the vibrant Irish Instagram community. This will be an event that will promote creativity and sharing amongst the city's many photographers, both novice and expert.

So pop down and join us for an evening of fun and digital delights, such as our interactive photo-wall. This installation will be a living, breathing, moving photo collage, featuring a constantly updating collection of Instagram images. 

 

No party would be complete without some fine wine, good beer, tasty food and funky beats and yes we have that covered too. Happy cows

I guess you would say, What?! Happy cows?! What is she talking about? 
Well, after you see my images, please tell me, don't you think those are some happy and lucky cows to live in a place like that with such glorious views and all that fresh air and all that soft sweet grass, carpeting in the hills of Connemara.
I certainly feel extremely lucky and wonderfully happy to live in such a beautiful country, to be able to stroll this very road every morning with my camera and admire that gorgeous view. 
Yes, I can never have enough of that!
Believe me, I feel as lucky and as happy as those wonderful creatures, belonging to the mesmerizing hills of Connemara.  

  Tell me, wouldn't you want to be able to walk here?

Wouldn't you feel happy strolling those hills and admiring that view every day?!
